Photography

Some of my favorite photos taken over the years.

I probably should have become a photographer — I learned a lot from my father, who picked it up in the Army and was a great (occasionally professional) shooter. It runs in the blood; everyone in our family is a picture taker, and at various times we had darkroom setups at home.

Over the years I’ve found photography is an integral part of my creative process. I shoot with a Nikon D300 and D7000, enjoy using cameras in unconventional ways, and lean on them heavily for design research — candids of interview subjects, documenting feedback and process. One of my favorite things is taking random shots from the driver’s side window while cruising through San Francisco on a warm day. Lately my cameras photograph my handmade collage work, capturing it at high resolution to carry into the digital realm.
