The Original Magic
A band, if I had a band. It’s just me.
The Original Magic is the name of my band, if I had a band, which I don’t, because it’s just me. It’s a bedroom recording project that started when I was about 6, playing with my dad’s tape recorders. A babysitter sat me down at a piano and told me I could write a song, and I have been growing the practice ever since.
The archive runs from the 70s through the 80s, 90s and 2000s, up to now. Collaborators come and go on these recordings, but it’s mostly me: producer, engineer, songwriter, and whatever instrument the song needed.
