For awhile I was slightly obsessed with making these kaleidoscopic patterns. The process begins first by drawing in a moleskine notebook, various textures and forms which are then photographed using an iPhone, then brought into several apps used for making kaleidoscopic treatments. I’ve been fascinated with kaleidoscopes since I was a kid, and many years ago I discovered how to create my own in Photoshop by simply duplicating layers and changing the orientation in various ways. I was never happy with the various plug-ins that created Kaleidoscopic effects, up until I discovered my favorite one running on iOS, called Kaleidacam. I’ve since started incorporating these types of treatments as collage elements in larger works.
